Welcome Parks Professionals!
Imagine if a “prescription” for better health didn’t come in a bottle—but on a trail, at a playground, or under a redwood canopy. That’s the heart of ParkRx, connecting people to parks and nature as a proven way to support physical, mental, and social well-being.
As a parks and recreation professional, you’re already creating spaces where health can flourish. ParkRx helps you turn those spaces into an intentional part of local healthcare and community wellness.

What Participation can Look Like:
Host Free Programs: Offer no-cost activities that are easy to “prescribe,” such as guided walks and family nature days.

ParkRx Scholarships: Offer scholarships for ParkRx patients to waive fees for paid programming such as exercise classes or sports camps. Help us reduce barriers to experiencing nature.

How we Support our Partners
Promotion: Opportunities to feature your agency in ParkRx outreach.
Staff training: Introductions to the ParkRx model, how referrals work, and how to welcome participants who are new to parks or physical activity.
Who can participate?
We welcome a wide range of parks and recreation partners, including:
  • City and county parks and recreation departments
  • Special districts and regional park agencies
  • Nonprofit nature centers and outdoor organizations
  • Community centers and after-school program providers
If you manage spaces or programs that help people move, connect, and enjoy the outdoors, please contact us!
